Urgent.. Shoukry reaffirms Egypt’s complete rejection of any military operation in the Palestinian Rafah

 Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry reaffirmed Egypt’s complete rejection of any military operation in the Palestinian Rafah, given its serious humanitarian repercussions.

 

This came during a phone call received by the Minister Foreign Ministry today, Thursday, from Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski.

 

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman and director of the Public Diplomacy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the Polish Foreign Minister expressed his profound Warsaw’s appreciation for Egypt’s provision of all necessary facilities to deport the body of a Polish citizen to his country, who was killed as a result of the Israeli operation against humanitarian relief employees working at the World Central Kitchen Association in Gaza.

 

He also praised Cairo’s tireless efforts at all levels and with various actors to resolve the current crisis taking place in the Gaza Strip, and work to reach a ceasefire and end the humanitarian crisis taking place in the Strip.

 

For his part, Shoukry expressed Egypt’s appreciation for the Polish side’s support of Egyptian health care facilities working to treat injured Palestinians, by sending aid provided by the Government Agency for Strategic Precautions through the Egyptian Ministry of Health through the European Union mechanism UCPM.

The official spokesman added that the two ministers also discussed holding the first session of the Egyptian-Polish Economic Committee in Warsaw during December 2024, headed by the Minister of International Cooperation and the Polish Minister of Development and Technology.

They also touched on the issue of holding a new round of consultations between Egypt and Poland, headed by the assistant foreign ministers of the two countries in Cairo during the current year.

 

Ambassador Abu Zeid added. Minister Shukri discussed in detail the latest developments related to all dimensions of the raging crisis in the Gaza Strip, reiterating Egypt’s firm position calling for the inevitability of dealing immediately and responsibly with the explosive humanitarian crisis in the Strip, and the necessity of uniting efforts aimed at preventing the spread of the conflict in a way that threatens the security and stability of the region. The Minister of Foreign Affairs also stressed the necessity of an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and to ensure the complete, safe and unhindered access of humanitarian aid to the brotherly Palestinian people inside the Strip. Calling for the necessity of implementing Security Council Resolution No. 2720 and all relevant resolutions of the Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly in this regard.
