Bomb threat evacuates Louisville zoo

Dozens of people were evacuated from Louisville Zoo in Kentucky after a bomb threat was made to the front desk, but has since been given the “all-clear.”

The staffers at the front desk of the Kentucky-based zoo reportedly received a threat of a bomb at around 8.47am, Louisville Zoo staff told WLKY.

Employees and contractors were all evacuated from the site and waited at Joe Creason Park while police investigated.

The authorities were able to give the all-clear to zoo staff at around 11am and Dan Maloney, the zoo’s director, said they plan to reopen the park around noon.

“Preliminary this appears to be a false call but as a precaution our Sixth Division is working with Zoo officials on this matter,” Louisville Metro Police said in a statement to WDRB

Field trips to the zoo were all delayed as a result of the threat, a spokesperson told WDRB.
