The man who tried to set himself on fire on Friday in front of the Manhattan court where Donald Trump is being tried has died, police announced on Saturday April 20. After his action, Maxwell Azzarello, born in 1987 and originally from Florida, was in a state “severe”had previously clarified the New York fire chief during a press briefing.

According to one of the police officials, Joseph Kenny, the man had sent writings that “relate to conspiracy theories”, before taking action. “There is information about Ponzi schemes and that some of our schools are fronts for the mafia.” According to authorities, Maxwell Azzarello arrived in New York a few days ago.

Images of the tragedy, broadcast by American channels and on social networks, show the victim, with both hands behind his head, transforming into a human torch for several seconds before falling to the ground. Police rushed to the man and a fire extinguisher was used against the blaze. The police assured that they would review the security protocols around the court, while the system is already reinforced by the presence of the former American president inside the building.
