A13 closed: Valérie Pécresse "asks the State to pay for the free A14"

Local elected officials have been mobilizing since Friday to obtain free access to some of the most expensive roads in France while the Normandy motorway is closed to traffic between Paris and Vaucresson (Hauts-de-Seine) until Monday inclusive. Cracks in the roadway were detected between the viaduct and the Saint-Cloud tunnel. The president of the Ile-de-France region considers that the closure of the A13 “is a terrible hassle for the Ile-de-France residents and the Normans”.

Other elected officials have asked for the A14 to be free, such as Yvelines MP Karl Olive. “We have no feedback from the highway concessionaires, it’s unbearable”reacted “very angry” on Sunday on Europe 1 Karl Olive, MP for Yvelines Renaissance. “I’m very angry. It’s the return from Normandy holidays. It’s the end of the Easter school holidays. Tonight, it’s Paris Saint-Germain against Lyon, with supporters who will come from West Paris and central France, which will ultimately take routes that will be ultra saturated”he explained.

The MP called on Saturday on franceinfo the private Paris-Normandy motorway company which manages this road axis “make an effort” for users, “exceptionally”he assures. “These people who make 4 billion in profit in 2023 are incapable of answering a simple question”, he said very irritated. Karl Olive calls out to them once again: “For 72 hours, open the highways for free. You will do a good deed for the French. It will not put a dent in your company’s budget. It will not make a hole in the racket”he quipped. “It’s unbearable because when we talk about super profiteers, well there we are”he added.

The Minister of Transport, Patrice Vergriete, with whom Karl Olive spoke on Saturday morning on the telephone, encouraged vacationers on Saturday on the social network “who return from vacation this Sunday or who return to work this Monday” has “favor public transport or carpooling to limit congestion”.
