Israel: families of Hamas hostages continue to demonstrate to demand their release and an end to the war

Cairo: Hani Kamal El-Din

Israel is awaiting Hamas’ response to its truce proposal. The Palestinian movement announced on Saturday April 27 that it was “studying” this offer from Israel, but as if to add a little more pressure on the negotiators, Hamas also published a new hostage video on Saturday evening, the second of the week. In these images, we can see the hostages Omri Mirane and Keith Siegel. A video which was shown on Saturday evening during a new demonstration by hostage families in Tel Aviv.

Dani Mirane, Omri Mirane’s father, spoke with red eyes and a long beard that he decided not to trim until the hostages were freed. He demands a truce. Two hours before, he saw for the first time since October 7 the face of his son Omri, in the video published by Hamas. “On the one hand, you are very happy to see that they are alive, but on the other hand, you can see in their eyes that they are suffering”he testifies.

Michael Levy, Or’s little brother, also a hostage in Gaza, is a sign of hope. “I think the only solution is an agreement. I try not to wonder whose fault it is, I just want to resolve this situation”he pleads. In the audience, Sheked is in tears. She feels fear, but also anger, at the thousands of demonstrators around the world who, according to her, defend Palestine but spit on Israel.

The demonstration ends with the names of the hostages, slowly listed. There are still 133 of them in the hands of Hamas.
