The anniversary concert of bard Sergei Nikitin was canceled in Moscow

The concert of bard Sergei Nikitin scheduled for June 13 at the Moscow Center for Author’s Song for his 80th birthday was canceled without explanation. This is stated in message on the site’s website.

In April, the “Forty Forty” movement asked the Russian Ministry of Justice and the Investigative Committee to check Sergei Nikitin and his wife Tatyana for promoting terrorism and compliance with the status of so-called foreign agents. The statement alleged that the artists were involved in financing the Ukrainian armed forces.

The pro-Kremlin publication Regnum wrote that the duo sponsors the Ukrainian military and records anti-Russian videos while living in the United States.

Nikitins were released in response appeal, in which they said that they had never financed the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and called the accusations against them slander. The couple also explained that their son and grandchildren live in the USA, so the couple often goes there to visit

Sergei and Tatyana Nikitin are known to the public as the authors and performers of songs for the films “Moscow Doesn’t Believe in Tears”, “The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath!”, the cartoons “A Big Secret for a Small Company”, “The Tale of Lost Time” and others.
