8 candidates are competing for the presidency of Panama

Panama City, May 5 / WAM / Eight candidates are competing in the presidential elections taking place in Panama today.

Conservative lawyer Jose Raul Molino (64 years old) is leading by a large margin in the opinion polls, with about 37% of the votes, according to the latest poll, and only three of the remaining seven candidates are close to obtaining a support rate of 15%.

Following Molino’s ranks are former social democratic president Martin Torrijos, and two center-right politicians: former Foreign Minister Romulo Rox and former ambassador to the United States Ricardo Lombana.

Polls show that the number of undecided voters is greater than the number of supporters of any of Molyneux’s seven opponents.
