"Emirates Arabian Horses" Honoring award winners "Beautiful descriptions"

Abu Dhabi, May 5 / WAM / The Emirates Arabian Horse Association crowned the winners of the “Mazyoun Al-Awsaf” award for the most beautiful name for a local Arabian horse born for the year 2024 in the UAE in the colts and fillies categories.

During the ceremony this morning at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2024 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center – ADNEC, members of the jury were honored.

The “Mazyoun Al-Awsaf” award, which is organized by the Emirates Arabian Horse Association in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, dedicated to the most beautiful name of a local Arabian horse born for the year 2024 in the UAE (the colts and fillies category), aims to advance the Arabic language and encourage horse owners and breeders to name their horses with authentic Arabic names.

The name of the award, “Mazyoun al-Awsaf,” was inspired by the poems of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul,” and his words, and in keeping with his approach to caring for the Arabic heritage and language, especially his interest in Arabian horses.

His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Tamim, President of the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, and His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Harbi, Director General of the Emirates Arabian Horse Association, honored the winners of the first three places in the “Mazyoun Al-Awsaf” Award.

The filly’s name, “Al-Has”, belonging to Khalaf Al-Otaiba, won first place in the filly category. It won the golden shield and a financial prize worth 50,000 dirhams. Linguistically, “Has the mare” means his enemy has become stronger, and “Has” is the share of a specific thing, which also means a piece of pearl.

She won second place, the silver shield, and an amount of 30,000 dirhams. The filly “Nawd” by Mohammed Hamad Al Mansouri, and “Nawd” means the high place and it was said that it is the valley.

The third place went to the filly “Nouf” by Olayan Al-Hajri, and she won the bronze shield and an amount of 20,000 dirhams. “Nouf” means the high point, which is the peak of the high mountain and the high hump.

In the colts category, the colt “Wahaj” by Mohammed Salem Al Shamsi took first place, and won the golden shield and a financial prize worth 50,000 dirhams. “Babylon” by Hikmat Al-Sharif, and “Bariq” meaning a shining sword, which is from the word “lightning” and denotes speed and lighting.

The third place was won by the colt “Al-Aghar” by Haitham Al-Kindi, who received the bronze shield and an amount of 20,000 dirhams. “Al-Aghar” means generous and beautiful, and is called the honorable gentleman and the one who has a bang on his forehead.

On the other hand, the Emirates Arabian Horse Association signed a memorandum of understanding with the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center during the ceremony honoring the winners of the second edition of the “Mazyoun Al-Awsaf” award.

The memorandum of understanding aims to consolidate joint cooperation between the center and the association regarding the Mazyun Al-Awsaf Award, and everything related to the Arabic language and heritage.

The memorandum was signed by His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, and His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Harbi, Director General of the Emirates Arabian Horse Association.
