Last week, Damietta Port ranked first in the number of food consignments exported from it with a total of 786 consignments, followed by Alexandria Port with 750 consignments, then Cairo Airport Port with a total of 715 consignments.

 

The number reached Food shipments received in 2015 amounted to about 395 thousand tons to 794 importing companies, ranging from 151 varieties of wheat, various oils, and soybeans from 87 countries. The General Administration for Special Food Registration and Licensing registered 20 products and 8 companies, and carried out 5 supervisory visits. The administration also examined 669 new products, It issued 21 free sale certificates.

 

The authority’s operations room, affiliated with the Strategic Commodities Department, visited the governorates of Dakahlia, Qalyubia, Menoufia, Gharbia, and Beheira to follow up on the work progress of the local wheat receiving committees and eliminate any problems. The total number of complaints received by the Authority reached 43 complaints from the various complaint-receiving agencies. 672 public store establishments with food activities have been registered, and the Public Store Registration and Licensing Department conducted 252 inspections, while 257 completed the inspection. The Storage Facilities Control Department carried out 22 oversight missions over food stores in the governorates of Cairo, Giza, Dakahlia, Qalyubia, Gharbia, Sharqia, Ismailia, Alexandria, Sohag, Menoufia, the Red Sea and South Sinai.

Within the framework of the awareness and educational role of the National Food Safety Authority to raise public awareness towards improving food safety measures and promoting sound healthy food practices, 15 food facilities were visited and directions were given to implementing corrective measures for those facilities.

 

15 prosecutorial decisions were implemented, and large-scale campaigns were participated in with the governorate, the Supply Directorate, the Supply Investigation Department, the Veterinary Medicine Directorate, and the Health Directorate. The branch of the Food Safety Authority in Sohag Governorate 2 launched an expanded inspection campaign on 5 food establishments in Within the cities and centers of the governorate (Sharq District, Akhmim), these campaigns resulted in issuing a death report for expired products (meat, frozen products, biscuit packages).

 

The branch also implemented a campaign An expanded inspection, in conjunction with the Consumer Protection Agency and the Supply Investigations Department, carried out a number of 10 food establishments, which resulted in the seizure of a quantity of expired foodstuffs with changed natural properties, and 11 reports and 7 warnings were issued for managing an establishment without a license.
