God has a chevron with the Ukrainian flag on his shoulder

The President of Ukraine congratulated the Orthodox residents of the country on Easter.

Vladimir Zelensky recorded a video wearing an embroidered shirt, against the backdrop of St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv. The Ukrainian leader called the holiday a symbol of the victory of goodness and justice. Zelensky emphasized that the Bible teaches love for one’s neighbor.

“And the former neighbor, who was constantly trying to be our brother, is forever distant to us. He violated all the commandments, demanded our house, came to kill us. The world sees this. God knows this. And we believe: God has a chevron with Ukrainian on his shoulder flag. So with such an ally, life will definitely defeat death,” said Zelensky.

In Russia, the Easter service with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin took place in Moscow, in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. The head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, during the service called for prayer for the protection of the “sacred borders” of Russia, “for the authorities and the army” and for those who “lose not only their health, but also their lives, defending the Fatherland.”

The Patriarch also expressed hopethat God will stop the “internecine warfare” between Russia and Ukraine.

After the start of the war, Kirill actually supported the fighting. Kyiv accused the head of the Russian Orthodox Church of justifying armed aggression. Anti-war priests in Russia are punished.
