Our jiu-jitsu team raises its tally to 18 medals in the Asian Championship and retains the title for the fourth year

Abu Dhabi, May 5 / WAM / Our national adult jiu-jitsu team concluded its honorable journey, retaining the title in the eighth edition of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship for the fourth year in a row.
The eighth edition of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship will be held under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, at the Mubadala Arena, with the participation of 1,500 male and female players from more than 30 countries.
Today’s competitions were attended by Panagiotos Theodoroupolis, President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, His Excellency Abdel Moneim Al-Sayyid Mohammed Al Hashemi, President of the Emirati and Asian Federations and First Vice President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, His Excellency Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice President of the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Fahd Ali Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Emirati and Asian Federations, and a number of heads of national federations. And representatives of participating delegations.
The UAE champions succeeded in the third day’s competitions, “Sunday,” in adding 7 colored medals: 3 gold, 3 silver, and one bronze in the jiu-jitsu competitions for the weight categories of 85, 94, and over 94 kg for men and weights of 63 kg and over 70 kg for women, raising the country’s tally to 18 medals, with 6 gold, 7 silver, and 5 bronze.
Hazza Farhan, who weighed 94+ kg, Saeed Al-Kubaisi, who weighed 85 kg, and Shamma Al-Kalbani, who weighed 63 kg, succeeded in winning gold medals, while the silver medals were won by Bashayer Al-Matroushi, who weighed 63 kg, Farraj Al-Awlaki, who weighed 85 kg, Abdullah Al-Kubaisi, who weighed 94 kg, and Ammar. Al Hosani won bronze, weighing 94 kg.
His Excellency Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice President of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, expressed his pride in the national team’s achievements in the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship and its adherence to the summit by retaining the title for the fourth year in a row.
He stressed that the efforts and sacrifices made by the national team players and the technical staff at various levels during the past weeks paid off, leading them to win the coronation again and consolidate their continental superiority over a group of the strongest Asian teams.
He noted the importance of the achievement at this time, as the Asian continent is witnessing unprecedented growth in terms of the development of the sport of jiu-jitsu and the increase in the number of practitioners. This was clearly evident in this tournament, which witnessed distinguished technical levels, and whose atmosphere was characterized by strong competition and the desire of the participating teams to ascend to the podium.
Shanchai Soksuan, President of the Thai Jiu-Jitsu Federation, expressed his happiness with his country’s performance in the tournament, and said, “Our players are performing well thanks to the efforts we have made over the past years to spread the sport of Jiu-Jitsu in Thailand and provide the necessary support to the players. We have great hopes for the junior and youth competitions that will begin.” Tomorrow, we focused on this category and we trust the capabilities and determination of our players, and we wish them all the best.”
He added, “Jiu-Jitsu is witnessing a remarkable spread in Thailand, and we have hosted a number of the most important events, such as the last edition of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship and the Thai Jiu-Jitsu Grand Prix Championship. We are cooperating closely with the International and Asian Jiu-Jitsu Federations to host more events.”
Falah Al-Nasiri, coach of the Iraqi youth jiu-jitsu team, said, “We are pleased to participate in the tournament, especially since it is being held on the land of the sister Emirates, which we consider our second homeland. It was wonderful to see this distinguished level of organization and the unprecedented number of participating players. Our team is performing well, as we won a number of “We won medals in the adult category and we look forward to achieving the best in the youth category.”
He added, “All conditions are prepared for us to excel in the fights of the youth and junior categories, and we have prepared for this tournament well. The Iraqi Jiu-Jitsu Federation has adopted an integrated methodology to advance the sport of Jiu-Jitsu during the next few years, and one of the most prominent goals of this methodology is to establish national teams in different age groups capable of competing continentally and internationally.” .
Hazza Farhan, the national team player who won gold in the 94+ category, says: “I am proud of this important coronation that helped the team maintain the Asian title. Hard work and complete implementation of the coach’s instructions had the greatest impact in achieving this achievement, and I was keen in all of today’s fights to remain calm.” “Reading competitors’ movements, and choosing the appropriate moments to apply the techniques and strategies we acquired during training.”

He added, “The training camp we went through was a major factor in refining our skills in line with the importance of the event. It is an indescribable feeling to see our hard work lead us to the coronation. I dedicate this victory to the wise leadership, the people of the Emirates, the technical staff, and my teammates in the national team.”
Shamma Al-Kalbani, the national team player who won the 63 kg gold medal, said: “I am filled with feelings of pride and gratitude for topping the podium, and I focused in every fight I fought today on the technical aspects, using a combination of precision, focus, and tactical flexibility to control the competition, and perhaps the main factor in achieving superiority over… “The simplicity lies in adapting to the conditions of the fights and the ability to move smoothly between offensive and defensive techniques.”

She added, “The credit for this goes to the training and sacrifices that preceded the start of the tournament. I can say that focusing on the smallest details was what achieved victory. It was an ideal experience in front of the elite Asian champions, and I am proud to represent the UAE in this distinguished continental sports gathering.”

Tomorrow, Monday, the eighth edition of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship will witness the launch of competitions in the youth and junior categories for the first time in the tournament’s history, with the participation of more than 800 male and female players.
Our national team is participating in the competitions with more than 100 male and female players, and has a strong chance of achieving the title in light of its outstanding talents, based on its recent achievement in the World Championship in Kazakhstan and achieving the title.
