The Ministry of Health and Population announced the destruction of 6,141 kilograms of various foods and 630 liters of unknown juices and drinks. The source, due to the change in its natural properties, and its unsuitability for human consumption.

This came during several campaigns launched by the Central Food Control Administration in the Health Affairs Directorates in all governorates of the Republic, during the period from last April 24 to May 3 of this year, as part of the campaigns Which is implemented by the Ministry of Health and Population, on all food establishments, especially places that sell salted fish, coinciding with the celebration of the glorious Resurrection Day, Sham El-Nessim.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the campaigns visited 2,051 food establishments. 1,145 samples of foodstuffs were withdrawn during the same period, to be examined in the Ministry of Health’s laboratories, and the necessary measures were taken regarding any violations of the health requirements that must be met in places where food is handled.

And “Abdul Ghaffar” confirmed: These campaigns come in implementation of the directives of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, to tighten control over food establishments, intensify monitoring campaigns, to ensure the safety of food provided to citizens, and take all legal measures regarding the violations that are monitored.

For his part, Dr. Amr Qandil, Assistant Minister of Health for Preventive Medicine Affairs, indicated that legal measures have been taken against 373 establishments operated without a license, calling on workers in the food field to adhere to all health requirements, obtain health certificates stating that they are free from infectious diseases, and pay attention to public and personal hygiene, and the necessity of The commitment of all food establishments to implement health requirements.

The Ministry of Health and Population called on citizens not to buy products of unknown origin, and to verify the expiration date and safety of the product, in order to preserve public health, stressing the continuation of periodic monitoring to ensure food safety.
