"NASA": Canceling the launch of the first manned test flight "Starliner" Shortly before take-off

Washington, May 7 / WAM / The US Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) confirmed that the launch of the first manned test flight of Boeing’s “Starliner” spacecraft was canceled shortly before take-off yesterday, Monday.

NASA explained that the launch was canceled due to a defect in the pressure relief valve in the oxygen supply system, as American astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sonny Williams returned to the crew quarters, while a new date for the test flight to the International Space Station was not announced.

It is noteworthy that Boeing plans to use the Starliner to transport astronauts to the International Space Station in the future, providing an alternative to the SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule. Once approved, the Starliner will carry up to four individuals to the station.

Starliner completed an unmanned test flight to the International Space Station in May 2022. The spacecraft was originally scheduled to launch to the space site in July 2021, and the mission has already been postponed several times, due to problems after the arrival of the Russian research module “Naoka” to the International Space Station. In addition to problems in equipping the Starliner.
