The Ministry of Finance meets with the Article IV consultation mission at the International Monetary Fund

Abu Dhabi, 7 May / WAM / His Excellency Younis Haji Al Khouri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, met with the Article IV consultation mission at the International Monetary Fund, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, as part of the consultations that the Fund conducts annually on economic and financial performance.

The meeting was attended by Ali Abdullah Sharafi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for International Financial Relations, and Thuraya Hamid Al Hashemi, Director of International Financial Relations and Organizations at the Ministry, along with a number of officials and specialists from the Ministry of Finance and the International Monetary Fund.

During the meeting, His Excellency Younis Haji Al-Khouri appreciated the efforts made by the International Monetary Fund to evaluate the financial and economic performance of member states.

His Excellency said, “The Ministry of Finance attaches great importance to the consultations it holds with the Fund on an annual basis, based on its keenness to benefit from the recommendations of the Fund’s experts related to financial policies, and to move forward in developing and enabling government financial work mechanisms in the country and strengthening them to be in line with the best practices of internationally approved standards.”

The meeting discussed the latest developments in the financial and economic conditions, the country’s overall financial policies, the progress made in the financial framework, and developments regarding the tasks of the Government Financial Policy Coordination Council, in addition to public debt, issuance plans, corporate tax, public revenues and expenditures, and financial statements, in addition to issues related to energy. Green finance, and other topics of common interest.

It is noteworthy that the Article IV Consultations Mission at the International Monetary Fund will hold a series of meetings with a number of relevant authorities in the country, as part of the visit that will continue until May 16.
