3.2 trillion US dollars in foreign exchange reserves in China in April

BEIJING, 8 MAY/WAM/ China’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to 3.2 trillion US dollars at the end of last April, a decrease of 1.38 percent from the end of last March.

The Chinese news agency, Xinhua, reported that the National Foreign Exchange Authority of China attributed this decline to the combined effect of currency conversion and asset price changes.

The authority noted that the US dollar index rose and global financial asset prices fell last month, influenced by the monetary policy expectations of major economies and their macroeconomic data.

The authority added that the Chinese economy has a solid foundation, strong flexibility, and enormous potential, which is conducive to maintaining the stable size of its foreign exchange reserves.
