Paris 2024: the musical theme of the Olympic Games revealed upon the arrival of the flame in Marseille
Viewers of Télématin on France Télévisions heard on Wednesday, May 8, exclusively, some notes from Parade, the official musical theme of the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games. The tune, sometimes epic in tone and evoking the French Touch, is revealed upon the arrival of the flame in Marseille, on the three-masted Belem. It will be played live, at 7:30 p.m., by the Marseille orchestra from the Palais du Pharo, the organizers indicated.
The theme starts with a light, pop tune, with violins, then gains momentum with the symphony orchestra, moves to an epic register with choirs, to become an electro loop typical of the French Touch, with a festive coloring.
Its composer, Victor Le Masne, says he had “a thousand things to say” : “the power, the fever”, “the jubilation of the spectators”, “the tension, the stress before entering the stadium”“the moment of celebration, sometimes also dismay”. “I hope to welcome everyone into my music,” the musician further confided in Télématin.
Declined in “variations” with different sounds and rhythms, this melody “will accompany all the highlights of the Games, from the arrival of the Olympic flame in Marseille at each stage of the relay, to the competition sites”according to the organizers.
