Al-Jaf said in statements to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, on the sidelines of the third day of the AIM Investment Summit held in Abu Dhabi, that in light of the urgent and current challenges facing the world, the UAE’s proactive steps and firm commitment remain a source of hope for a brighter future. And sustainability.

He explained that the UAE has placed strategic investment in agriculture as a basis for enhancing food security and sustainability, as it works to enhance efforts to adapt to climate change to achieve global food security in the various events it hosts, which reflects its firm commitment to achieving sustainable development goals.

Al-Jaf stated that strategic investment plays a pivotal role in building an agricultural sector capable of adapting to the climate, enhancing food security, and ensuring a sustainable future by investing in breeding and promoting climate-resistant crop varieties, developing climate-adapted infrastructure, and establishing financial mechanisms such as crop insurance and risk-sharing funds. To protect farmers from climate-related losses.

He added that by aligning investments, policies and research, we can together address the challenges facing climate action and encourage partnerships between the public and private sectors, relevant organizations and research institutions to promote sustainable agricultural development in order to accelerate progress towards food security goals.

He pointed out that the UAE’s commitment to environmental sustainability is an example for the region and the world, as the country’s ambitious goals and innovative projects demonstrate a proactive approach towards addressing climate change, pointing out the importance of strengthening cooperation between various countries to confront global challenges, indicating that the “FAO” is actively cooperating with Various sectors, realizing that achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals is a collective effort.

He added that during its participation in the activities of the AIM Investment Summit, FAO highlights the critical role of agriculture as a major sector, as well as the role of investment in achieving sustainable development goals and climate goals, which sheds light on the challenges in sectors such as manufacturing and agriculture.

The Advisor to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Yemen (FAO) stressed that eliminating hunger remains a top priority for the Food and Agriculture Organization and its partners, pointing to the UAE’s strong support in this field through its multiple initiatives, which is vital to achieving our common goal of A world without hunger.

He stated that the FAO and its special office for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Yemen are looking forward to broader cooperation with the UAE to support investment in agriculture, stressing the importance of this to achieve sustainable development.

He also stressed the importance of the outcomes of the COP28 climate conference, which stressed the necessity of immediately addressing the environmental and climate challenges facing agriculture in the world, which are currently being translated into global Emirati efforts to accelerate work to achieve the summit’s outcomes.
