Apple Pay is down worldwide, leaving users unable to make purchases or access funds.
According to Apple’s system status dashboard, the outage began at 11:44am ET and is also affecting Wallet, Apple Card and Apple Cash.
Apple Pay, which has over 745 million users globally, including more than 60 million in the US, is a cornerstone of the company’s digital ecosystem.
However, Apple has not disclosed how many users are affected, stating only that ‘some users are impacted.’
Outage-tracking site DownDetector has received over 2,000 user reports in the US, with complaints centered around payment failures and issues transferring funds.
Frustrated users have taken to social media to vent.
‘Apple Pay being down when I left the house with just a phone is diabolical,’ one user posted on X.
Many echoed the inconvenience of having to fall back on physical debit cards—a rare move in an increasingly cashless world.

The outage has also disrupted services that rely on Apple Pay, including ride-hailing apps like Lyft and Uber, leaving some users stranded without transportation.
‘Apple Pay is down so I can’t pay for my Uber to the airport,’ one frustrated user posted on X.
‘Apple Pay is down and I literally only left the house with my phone, keys, and lip gloss. OMG,’ another wrote.
Although the outage is affecting users globally, the US appears to be hit hardest.
According to DownDetector’s outage map, major cities including New York City, Washington D.C., Boston, Atlanta, Chicago, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and San Francisco are reporting widespread issues.
The site also indicates outages in the UK and parts of Europe, though on a smaller scale.
