Justin Bieber Settles $31.5 Million Debt With Scooter Braun

Looks like the Justin Bieber and Scooter Braun money saga has finally wrapped up, and the numbers are as eye-watering as you’d expect.

According to recent reports from TMZ and PEOPLE, the pair have agreed to a $31.5 million settlement after a drawn-out financial standoff that started when Bieber’s 2022 Justice World Tour was abruptly cancelled due to “health reasons”.

Justin’s 2022 Justice World Tour fizzled out, but the bills didn’t. Scooter’s company, HYBE, picked up the tab, expecting Justin to pay them back in instalments. Spoiler: he made one payment and then, well, crickets. PEOPLE reports there was still $26 million left unpaid as of last week.

Even for Bieber, that’s a lot of “Sorry” to sing.

Bieber also owed Braun $11 million in commissions from their time working together, though Braun decided to let $8.6 million of that slide, according to TMZ.

TMZ reports that the final deal sees Bieber paying $26 million to cover the tour advance, plus another $5.5 million for commissions, bringing the grand total to $31.5 million. Neither side has made a public statement about the deal, so don’t hold your breath for a friendly selfie.

Earlier this year, The Hollywood Reporter suggested Bieber was $20 million in debt after the tour fallout and some questionable financial choices. His reps, however, were quick to call those claims “clickbait stupidity” in a statement to Us Weekly, insisting there was no financial crisis and that the stories were blown out of proportion.

So, what’s next? With the legal wrangling apparently sorted, Bieber can get back to what he does best — making music and, presumably, avoiding any more multi-million-dollar tour mishaps.
