Heartbreak High star Chloé Hayden has shared a response after being bombarded with “HUNDREDS of comments” regarding the dress she wore to the 2025 Logie Awards.
ICYMI, Hayden last week took to the red carpet at the annual Aussie TV event, where she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Qunni in the hit Netflix series.
While posing for pics, Hayden sported an otherworldly dress designed by clothing brand Romance Was Born, and completed the look with a prosthetic hand perched on her shoulder — because why the hell not?
Hayden — and indeed the entirety of her fellow Heartbreak High castmates — were among the best dressed at the ceremony in our books, but some people who fancy themselves fashion police apparently didn’t agree.
“I have seen literally HUNDREDS of comments talking about how bad my Logies dress was because it’s ‘unflattering’,” Hayden wrote in a post on Instagram Threads on Thursday.
The actress went on to question why a look even needs to be flattering, and why it can’t just evoke the “gothic butterfly” moment she was going for.
“Why is this the goal? Why does my goal have to be to wear the most flattering outfit for my body? Why isn’t the goal of looking like a gothic butterfly enough?” she wrote.

Hayden concluded the message by (rightfully) saying her successful achievement of the gothic look is “exponentially cooler” than wearing something other people deem “flattering”.
And at an event that featured too many men in black-and-white suits (not even a pop of colour?), it was daring choices like Hayden’s that kept the Logies red carpet spicy!
PEDESTRIAN.TV has reached out to Hayden for comment.
It’s not the first time Hayden has endured such commentary online.
Last year, she took a step back from social media after being subjected to “horrific” trolls over the course of many months, saying the commentary at the time was “inescapable, and is deeply affecting my mental and physical well-being”.
While she scored points on the red carpet, Hayden ultimately lost out in the Best Supporting Actress category to Julia Zemiro, who collected the trophy for her role in Fisk.
We’re certainly glad to see Hayden back in the limelight, because who else could pull off a gothic butterfly look with quite such finesse?
