Multiple people, including at least one child, were killed after a tour bus crashed in upstate New York on Friday.
New York State Police said over 50 people were on the tour bus, which was going from Niagara Falls to New York City.
Several passengers were unbuckled during the collision, ejecting them from the bus or leaving them entrapped.
Police believe the bus went into the median and overcorrected, causing the rollover crash on I-90 near Pembroke, which is about 25 miles east of Buffalo.
Photos showed the bus rolled over on its side, just off the highway. Several ambulances and medical helicopters were transporting patients.

Police describe ‘volatile’ crash scene
New York State Trooper James O’Callaghan said the some vehicles have been stranded after the tour bus crash shut down the interstate.
‘It’s a very volatile scene. We have vehicles going the wrong way on the 90,’ O’Callaghan said.
New York State Thruway Authority said I-90 east and west is closed between exit 48A (Pembroke) and exit 49 (Depew) due to the crash.
Erie County Medical Center received 24 crash victims
In an updated from doctors at Erie County Medical Center, the hospital confirmed they received 24 victims from the bus crash.
Doctors said four of those victims have been discharged and 20 remain in their care.
Two went into surgery and others were moved to the intensive care unit. Doctors said the victims’ injuries range from head trauma to extremity fractures, and they expect everyone to recover.
Rep. Elise Stefanik calls for prayers for crash victims
New York Rep. Elise Stefanik addressed the tour bus crash in a post on X.
‘Please join me in prayer for the victims, the injured, and the families of those involved in the fatal bus crash on the Thruway in Pembroke,’ she said.
‘God bless and protect our @nyspolice and first responders who rushed to the scene to save lives.’
Urgent appeal for blood donations after crash
ConnectLife, a blood and organ donation organization, issued an emergency appeal for blood donations after the crash.
‘Our community is facing a crisis,’ said Sarah Diina, Senior Director of Communications & External Affairs at ConnectLife.
‘We are urging all eligible donors to act now. Blood is needed immediately to treat patients who are fighting for their lives.’

Tour bus driver is ‘alive and well,’ police say
New York State Police confirmed the tour bus driver is alive and that they have a clear idea of what caused the crash.
‘The driver is alive and well,’ Trooper James O’Callaghan said. ‘We’re working with him. We believe we have a good idea of what happened, why the bus lost control.’
The bus was traveling eastbound when it went into the median and then ended up in a ditch on the right side of the road, he explained.
‘It’s a full-size tour bus. Heavy amount of damage,’ O’Callaghan said. ‘Most people I’m assuming on the bus did not have a seat belt on, that is the reason why we have so many ejected people on this bus.’

He said translators were being brought to the scene.
Erie County Medical Center receives bus crash victims
Erie County Medical Center, a Buffalo hospital known as ECMC, said it had at least eight patients from the crash by 2.10pm ET.
Multiple people were killed and dozens injured after the bus lost control on I-90 near Pembroke, about 25 miles east of Buffalo.

52 people on board bus returning to NYC
The New York State Police confirmed that 52 people, including the driver, were on board the bus.
The tour bus was chartered from NYC and was returning to the city from Niagara Falls.
Several witnesses observed the bus lose control, enter the median, then cross to the southern shoulder and overturn,’ state police said.

‘There was glass all over the road and people’s stuff all over the road,’ Powell Stephens of Medina told The Buffalo News after he drove by the crash. ‘Windows were all shattered.’

Police said they believe the bus went into the median and overcorrected, causing the rollover crash.
‘The bus was traveling eastbound right before the Pembroke exit and for unknown reasons the vehicle lost control, went into the median, overcorrected and ended up in the ditch, which would be on the right side of the roadway,’ said Trooper James O’Callaghan a spokesperson for the New York State Police.
Multiple Mercy Flight helicopters responding to the scene
The Mercy Flight air medical transport service said its three helicopters were transporting people from the crash site to area hospitals.
Three other helicopters from other services were being called to the scene, as well as ambulances from multiple area agencies, Mercy Flight president Margaret Ferrentino said.
‘It’s a very active scene,’ Ferrentino said. ‘At this time we’re praying for the victims.’

All lanes have been closed on I-90 in Pembroke after a tour bus heading to New York City crashed.
‘I-90, Pembroke- All lanes closed due to a collision involving a bus. Expect heavy delays and alternate routes of travel,’ New York State Police said.
