An emotional woman has confronted Treasurer Jim Chalmers at a press conference, breaking down in tears as she described a ‘horrific, catastrophic’ ordeal at her home.
‘I recently have been the victim of an absolutely horrific, catastrophic event at my home,’ she said.
‘The front gate was ripped out of my property onto the road. I live in fear, I have emailed (Queensland MP Sam O’Connor). I have tried to get some sort of resolve for the situation that I’m living under.’
She claimed that while the council had offered support, the state government had ignored her, failing to respond to 32 separate emails.
‘This is horrific. I’m dealing with tenants of public housing in my street who are involved in this. And the police agree with that so I want something addressed,’ she said.
‘I’m shaking because I’m so fearful and scared.’
Dr Chalmers began to reply, saying: ‘I totally understand that, it sounds like you’ve been through a very traumatic event,’ before he was cut short.
More to come.
