Health closes 4 unlicensed addiction treatment centers in Abu Nomros

The Ministry of Health and Population announced the closure of four unlicensed centers for addiction treatment and psychiatry in the Abu Nomros area in Giza Governorate, for violating health and legal requirements, and practicing the activity without obtaining the necessary licenses.

 

This measure comes in implementation of the directives of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, to tighten control over medical facilities; To ensure its adherence to health and legal standards, and to preserve the safety and health of citizens.

 

 

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry, explained that a joint inspection committee that included the Free Treatment Department of the Directorate of Health Affairs in Giza, in cooperation with Abu Nomros Investigations and the City Council, carried out an expanded campaign that resulted in the arrest of four violating facilities, namely the New Way Center for Psychiatry and Addiction Treatment. – Balmanawat, Freedom Road Center for Psychiatry and Addiction Treatment – Shabramant, Freedom Center for Psychiatry and Addiction Treatment – Anwar Al-Kashif Street, Al-Amal Center for Psychiatry and Addiction Treatment – Shabramant.

 

The official spokesman indicated that these centers violate the provisions of the Law Regulating Non-Governmental Medical Facilities No. (51) of 1981, as amended by Law No. (153) of 2004, and the Mental Health Law No. (71) of 2009. They also lack infection control standards, and ignore environmental requirements and precautionary measures, which exposes inmates to serious health risks, including: This is the possibility of the spread of infection.

 

He added that the aforementioned centers do not have any qualified doctor to medically supervise patients, and that those in charge of their management are recovering addicts who are not medically qualified.

 

Dr. Hisham Zaki, Head of the Central Administration for Non-Governmental Treatment Institutions and Licensing, confirmed that the Ministry has taken the necessary legal measures regarding these centers; To ensure the safety of patients and provide safe treatment services in accordance with approved standards, he stressed the continuation of monitoring campaigns to ensure that all medical facilities comply with health and legal requirements.
