“The smartest tank in the world”.. Russia announces the superiority of the T-90M “Proriv” tank in the battles of Ukraine

Arab Defense Website – November 13, 2025: Russia called its newest tank “the smartest in the world,” confirming its superiority over its Western and Ukrainian counterparts in terms of technology and combat capabilities.
The state company “Rostec” announced that the T-90M “Proriv” (Breakthrough) tank – which is the latest version of the T-90 tank series – has proven its high efficiency in combat operations in the war zone in Ukraine, as it was able to perform its tasks efficiently in changing and complex combat environments.
The company explained that the most prominent feature of the tank is its advanced fire control system, which gives it a high ability to monitor and respond quickly to changes in the field situation. Its modern electronics and intelligent operational interface allow the crew to precisely control the battlefield even in the most complex conditions. According to Rostec, the performance of the Russian tank is clearly superior to its Western and Ukrainian counterparts in terms of effectiveness and survivability.
Survivability is one of Proref’s most important advantages, as it has shown strong resistance to enemy attacks, including anti-armor missiles, grenade launchers, and FPV drones. It is also characterized by ease of maintenance and speed of repair, which makes it suitable for long operations in the field.
In order to meet the growing demand for this model, Uralvagonzavod announced an increase in production of T-90M tanks to provide the Russian army with more modern versions.
The T-90M “Prorev” tank is the latest version of the Russian T-90 tank family, and represents the pinnacle of development in the class of main battle tanks produced by the “Uralvagonzavod” company. This version is designed to keep pace with the requirements of modern warfare, and combines high firepower, advanced protection, and digital technologies in command and control systems.
The tank is distinguished by its main armament, which is a 125 mm 2A46M-5 smooth-bore gun, capable of firing a variety of ammunition, including armor-piercing shells, high-explosive projectiles, and anti-tank guided missiles fired from the gun barrel. It was also equipped with a remotely piloted 7.62 mm machine gun and a 12.7 mm anti-aircraft gun, giving it an integrated defensive and offensive capability.
In terms of protection, the T-90M is equipped with an advanced composite armor equipped with a “Relict” dynamic protection system, capable of confronting penetrating projectiles and modern guided missiles. New side protection units and an armored tower with an improved design were added to it, increasing the level of safety for the three-member crew. Its ability to withstand drones, RPGs, and Western missiles is considered one of its most prominent field strengths.
Technically, Proref excels thanks to its integrated digital battle management system that links sensor, night vision, thermal and laser target designation systems. This system allows the crew to detect and track targets with high accuracy and work in various weather and environmental conditions. Significant improvements have also been made to the suspension system and engine, as it relies on a diesel engine with a capacity of up to 1,130 horsepower, giving it a top speed of approximately 60 kilometers per hour and an operational range exceeding 500 kilometers.
The T-90M represents a qualitative leap in the development of Russian armor, as it combines the design heritage of the T-72 and T-90 series with modern technologies inspired by the T-14 “Armata” project. This tank has proven its effectiveness on the battlefields of Ukraine, where it has demonstrated a high ability to adapt to modern warfare methods, becoming a new symbol of the development of Russian armored industries.
