Travis Kelce left embarrassed as gushing praise of Rashee Rice resurfaces after Chiefs star’s ex made domestic violence allegations

Travis Kelce’s insistence that Rashee Rice is ‘such a good dude’ and one of his ‘favorite people’ has resurfaced in light of the domestic violence claims made by his Chiefs teammate’s ex-girlfriend.
Dacoda Jones, the mother of Rice’s two children, uploaded 14 pictures and a lengthy statement to Instagram on Wednesday afternoon showing cuts and bruises over her body, parts of her home trashed and her clothes ripped apart.
While she did not specifically name him, the accusations appeared to be leveled against the Kansas City wide receiver, who is on a $6.5million contract with the team.
The Chiefs said in a statement Wednesday night: ‘The club is aware of the allegations on social media and is in communication with the National Football League. We have no further comment at this time.’
After the shocking claims were made on Wednesday, fans quickly pulled up Kelce’s glowing praise of Rice from October of last year, when the controversial NFL star was nearing a return from a six-game suspension for his role in a multicar crash on a Dallas highway in May 2024.
The legendary tight end said about Rice: ‘I’m just happy to get my guy back out there. He can put this s*** in the f***ing past.

Jones posted a series of photos online alongside accusations against an ex documenting his alleged abuse
The post included pictures of bruises and scratches, as well as damage to her property
‘Rashee is such a good dude. When all this happened, I gave him a shout and let him know, “Man, listen, we know who you are as a person. Don’t let the world drag you through and make you feel like you’re any less of that.”
‘He’s one of my favorite people, one of the favorite teammates I’ve ever had because of how he attacks the day, how he lives his life. His generosity, his work ethic and how much fun he has playing this game.
‘I’m excited for him to get back to what he loves to do the most, and that’s to play football.’
Kelce and his teammates even warmed up in ‘Free 4’ shirts before the Week 2 loss to Philadelphia Eagles – Rice wears No. 4 for the Chiefs.
In July 2025, Rice was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years’ probation for his role in the crash after racing a friend in a Lamborghini. He was also ordered to pay $115,482 to the victims to cover medical expenses.
He was filmed fleeing the scene and later pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony charges – collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury.
Now the Super Bowl winner is back in the spotlight once again after the allegations made by his ex.
In a post that she started by warning her followers that she is about to discuss allegations of domestic violence, Jones wrote: ‘I’m so tired of keeping quiet I’m so tired of protecting his image. I’ve been through too much in a span of 8 years and I’ve had ENOUGH!

Dacoda Jones (left), the mother of Rice’s kids, has now made accusations of domestic violence
Jones branded the alleged culprit ‘very controlling’ and said they were together eight years
‘I’ve dealt with abuse for years, me and this man decided to break up a couple months ago and since then it’s been nothing but hell.
‘He’s very controlling, there’s been times he’s came to my new home broken my door, there’s been times when he would put his hands on me while I was pregnant even had the audacity to lock me outside all night in ten degree weather because he got caught cheating.’
She continued: ‘He’s cut up all my shoes and clothes leaving me with nothing because he gotten caught up. And there’s multiple instances of cheating but besides that I’m just tired of him not doing right by my boys. It’s not fair he doesn’t call them. He rather be layed up with hoes.
‘He literally left us in Kansas and I had to beg him to send money so that I could drive to Texas with my kids and all our stuff. We have an agreement because of everything he’s put me through and he still doesn’t follow it. He’s now trying to remove me and my kids from our home for no apparent reason. I’ve known this man for YEARS.
‘He tries to put on this persona like he’s dad of the year. He does the bare minimum and I have to beg for that. I’ve protected his image too long and I’m done doing that. It’s time to protect my peace, protect my children and stand up for myself.’
According to TMZ, Rice’s grandmother denied the claims and said Jones lied about the alleged abuse after the former couple had a dispute over paying for an apartment.
Jones’ post received support from Chariah Gordon, the partner of Rice’s former Chiefs teammate Mecole Hardman, and Sheawna Weathersby, who used to date the Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones.
