A man who had been missing since Valentine’s Day was found and rescued after going days without food and water.
Footage released by Putnam County Sheriff’s Office shows officials on Feb 25 searching the Vulcan Sand Plant for Andrew Giddens, a 36-year-old from Jacksonville, who was the subject of a missing person’s report after he’d had no contact with family and friends since Valentine’s Day. His car was discovered on Feb 23.
Crews from the Palatka Fire Department, Putnam County Fire Rescue, and the Melrose Fire Department spent hours working to rescue Giddens, who they discovered in shoulder-deep mud in freezing conditions.
“Due to the instability of the ground, responders had to progress slowly so they would not sink,” the sheriff’s office added.
After he was freed, he was flown by air ambulance to a trauma center in critical condition.
