Plastic surgeons weigh in on Jim Carrey’s latest transformation after being branded unrecognizable

Jim Carrey has been engulfed in plastic surgery speculation in recent weeks after a series of unrecognizable public appearances.
Most recently, the Hollywood funnyman, 64, left fans doing a double take when he hit the red carpet at the 51st César Awards in Paris on Thursday.
His seemingly altered look was so drastic that it sparked a conspiracy theory about him having been cloned – before artist Alexis Stone, who is renowned for his celebrity impersonations, claimed it was actually him on stage in Carrey’s place.
The Daily Mail has since debunked this claim, however, after learning that Carrey was in attendance himself at the award show in France.
But amid all the rumors, many have been left wondering if Carrey has gone under the knife.
Plastic surgeon Dr Jeffrey Spiegel has now spoken to the Daily Mail about the possible procedures Carrey may have had done after examining pictures and videos.
‘He has 100 percent had botulinum,’ the expert, who has never treated Carrey, said in reference to Botox treatment.
‘These treatments are amazing when done correctly but his injector gave him Botox more suitable for a woman’s face leading to oddly arched eyebrows.’

Dr Spiegel also identified ‘an unnatural pull in his cheek,’ adding that it could have been caused by ‘threading.’
‘This could be from a poorly done facelift,’ he shared, before stressing: ‘These outcomes stress why it is important to see a surgeon skilled in the nuances and differences between surgery for men and women.’
The cosmetic expert then added that Carrey had likely undergone some kind of laser treatment too ‘to make his face more pale.’
But warned: ‘These need to be mild. All of these tools are only effective in the hands of an expert.’
The Daily Mail reached out to Carrey’s representatives for comment.
At the Cesar Awards event, Carrey was presented with an Honorary César celebrating his decades-long career – a milestone moment he dedicated to his late father in an emotional speech that quickly made the rounds online.
‘I wanted to recognize my dad. I mean, my dad was the type of person that if you met him for five minutes, you felt like you knew him for 50 years,’ he said in a viral clip captured after the event.
But while the tribute tugged at heartstrings, viewers seemed more fixated on something else entirely.

Within minutes, social media lit up with speculation about his noticeably different appearance, with some fans bluntly suggesting he had gone under the knife.
One fan wrote: ‘Must have had a lot of work done to his face. Looks very different.’
‘Man, he looks different! Hasn’t been in the public eye for a while’, another shared.
A third added: ‘Is he turning into Bill Maher? He looks… different.’
‘Ooh, fire that plastic surgeon and call Kris Jenner’s,’ someone scoffed, referencing Kris Jenner’s recent facelift at age 70.
‘I’m no conspiracy theorist, but that’s not Jim Carrey,’ commented another, as others claimed they could see ‘tape’ on his face.
Adding fuel to the fire that it wasn’t really Carrey at the Cesars was artist Alexis Stone, who is renowned for his celebrity impersonations.
The British makeup artist, whose real name is Elliot Rentz, has pulled off many similar stunts over the years, famously attending fashion week shows in character as some of Hollywood’s most beloved stars.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, Stone shared a snap of Carrey with the caption: ‘Alexis Stone as Jim Carrey in Paris.’
Also in the carousel of images was a snapshot of a prosthetic face mask and false teeth, which, while seemingly AI-generated, fooled plenty of celebrities.
Among those commenting was Megan Fox, who penned: ‘I can’t handle any more stress right now I need to know if this is real,’ while Lisa Rinna wrote: ‘You blow me away.’
More details have since emerged about Carrey’s involvement with the Cesars – dubbed the French Oscars – with Gregory Caulier, the body’s general delegate, stating that Carrey’s appearance was authentic and ‘a historic moment.’
Branding the controversy a ‘non-issue,’ Gregory said: ‘Jim Carrey’s visit has been planned since this summer. From the outset, he was extremely touched by the Academy’s invitation.’
Noting that Carrey had spent eight months in discussion and practicing his speech in French, he added to Variety that the actor had been supported by 12 of his family members and friends as he accepted the honorary award.
