The Knäbäck bright green easy armchair has become the standout piece in the new PS 2026 collection thanks to its ‘genius’ inflatable cushions and sturdy chrome frame.
Excited customers were seen lining up in the early hours of launch day, with many patiently waiting to snap up the ‘must-have’ living room piece.
‘Nostalgic’ shoppers have called it the ultimate ’90s inflatable chair that’s making a comeback’, with the $159 statement piece growing in popularity around the world.
‘The inflatable feature is pretty cool,’ one said.
‘This is the coolest inflatable chair I’ve ever seen,’ another shared.
‘This is like magic! Absolutely love it,’ one revealed.
‘Oh so I actually need this one ASAP,’ another added.

Fans of the green chair have shared their glowing reviews, with one saying: ‘Love this chair. It is surprisingly comfortable yet so stylish. Really glad I made the purchase. This one is going to stay with me for life.’
‘Love the idea of inflatable. Cool design with pop colour! Glad I went to pick it up when it first landed at the store,’ another said.
‘Star of the collection. Great design… comfortable to sit in. Would love to see some future colour variations… such as marigold, terracotta, or chocolate,’ one added.
Designer Mikael Axelsson hand-welded 20 prototypes before arriving at a solution: two separate air chambers held within a tubular chrome frame.
The green chair arrives flat-packed with a foot pump and has undergone every durability test IKEA runs on all its armchairs.
And it wasn’t the vibrant green chair that flew off shelves.
The $69.99 red uplighter proved particularly popular, becoming the top-selling item in the range on day one, with over 500 snapped up by Aussies in the first four hours.

The floor lamp available in colours dark red, blue and yellow, has sold out in most stores across Australia, with many begging IKEA for its return.
‘We knew there was excitement around the PS 2026 collection, but the speed at which these pieces have been snapped up by customers today has taken us by surprise,’ Ainslie Woodham, Home Furnishing and Retail Design Manager, IKEA Australia and New Zealand, said.
‘If you missed out on something in the PS collection don’t worry, products are being replenished by our teams daily and will be back in stock very soon.’
The retailer launched its 10th edition of the PS collection, featuring 43 new pieces that combine function with unexpected elements of playfulness and everyday living, ideal for modern Australian homes.
