Woman killed when she tried to stop her estranged ex-husband from driving drunk and is run over, family says

A woman in Georgia trying to stop her ex-husband from driving drunk was killed after he allegedly drove off with her still hanging onto his truck, her family said.

Surveillance video from the Janice Frazier’s home obtained by WSB-TV captured the moment she was killed.

In the footage, captured around 2 a.m., Frazier can be seen following her ex-husband, who arrived unexpectedly at her home and appears to be drinking from a flask, out to his truck.

She then got in the vehicle to try and stop him from driving intoxicated, the family told WSB-TV, but a short time later he can be seen running back to the driver’s side door and getting in the cab.

Frazier can then be seen grabbing the driver’s side door and banging on the window as the truck moved down the driveway. The truck rolls down the driveway with Frazier still holding onto the door handle. She tries to keep up with the truck but loses her grip on the handle and falls under the vehicle and is run over by the rear tire.

The footage appears to show the man returning to the driveway, inspecting Frazier, and then dragging her back up the steep driveway to her home.

“This was so unexpected,” Frazier’s nephew, Chris Frazier, told the broadcaster. “This just hit us like a storm. We didn’t see this coming from a mile away.”

“To not even call 911, not to try to do CPR, but to drag her up a driveway, it’s just heartless,” Frazier’s niece, Frazier’s niece, Ashley Black, said.

According to the family, the ex-husband dragged Frazier back inside, changed her clothes, and then called her son to come to the house. He allegedly told the son that he did not know what happened to the woman, WSB-TV reports.

“For a son to see that, it was just not called for,” Chris Frazier told the outlet.

DeKalb County police are still investigating the incident.

It’s unclear why the ex-husband arrived at Frazier’s house in the middle of the night. Her family provided a letter to WSB-TV, reportedly written by the ex-husband, in which he explains he has been having difficulty moving on from the relationship.

The man returned to the property after the incident to remove some of his personal belongings from a storage shed, according to the family.

The ex-husband’s name has not been published as he, as of this report, has not been accused or charged with any crime.
