How Cruz Hewitt and Roger Federer’s daughter fuelled romance rumours at Wimbledon

Young love has been the centre of the talk around Wimbledon’s players cafe.

And the whispers from inside are that Lleyton Hewitt’s son Cruz and Roger Federer’s daughter Myla are dating.

They’ve been pictured together sharing the odd cosy moment or two over the course of finals weekend at The All England Tennis Club.

The pair have been together so often that reports have arisen that one onlooker approached them and teased ‘are you two in love?’

According to insiders, the two children of tennis icons and their supposed budding romance have been the talk of the town.

Though it is important to remember that Cruz and Myla are so young, just 17 and 16 respectively.

The Federer and Hewitt families are reportedly very close away from the sport after enjoying a healthy rivalry on it.

They were often seen hanging out together in the Wimbledon cafe, where Federer’s children were usually playing hide and seek, according to The Australian.

And Cruz has received plenty of support from the Federer family and Myla in particular throughout his Wimbledon journey.

Myla and her twin sister Charlene were often pictured cheering on the young Hewitt as he made his way to the Wimbledon junior final.

That final was in fact one of the few times that Myla wasn’t present to cheer on Cruz.

The 17-year-old would go on to claim the runners-up shield after he was beaten in a three-set thriller by American 16-year-old qualifier Jordan Lee.

And that seems to be the end of his junior career as Cruz is determined to prove himself at the senior pro level.

Currently ranked 606 in the world, he has designs on cracking the top 300 by Christmas.

A win at Wimbledon would have really set the tone, but a runners-up finish is nothing to sniff at either.

Perhaps the most painful part of losing that final is missing out on a wildcard entry to his home Australian Open.

‘That would be the dream,’ he told The Australian. ‘I feel like I’ve showed my level and at the end of the day … that would be a dream, to have a wildcard. When you lose is when you learn. I’ve heard that a lot. I believe it.’

He also spoke about his experience getting to hit with tennis icon Federer, ‘That was pretty crazy.

‘You know, that was a kid with a dream to play at Wimbledon and make the final.

‘So when I do think about that, it makes me appreciate what I’ve done this week and to be proud of myself.

‘That’s one of the things you have to do at the end of the day. Seeing that, I think that little kid would be happy.’

Whatever the case may be between himself and Myla, that is certainly their business and something they are seemingly not too keen to put in the public spotlight.

But if Cruz can emulate his father’s tennis performances then he will certainly find himself in the spotlight on court eventually.
