Lindsay Clancy jurors will visit her old $800k home today to see where she killed her three children then tried to take her own life: Live updates

The jury will visit the Clancy’s home in Duxbury where she killed her three children and then tried to kill herself on January 24, 2023. They will also visit the CVS and 3V restaurant where she sent Patrick that evening before the tragedy.

Prosecutors, the defense, the judge and court staff will accompany the jury. Clancy also has the option to attend, but her attorney told the Daily Mail that she will not be in attendance.

The home is now owned by a local attorney who objected to the tour, arguing that it does not look the same as it did at the time. But the judge ordered them to make it available for the view.

Jurors will be able to see the outside – including the backyard where Clancy was found injured – as well as all the rooms on the first and second floor – including the main bedroom from which Clancy jumped. They will also enter the basement where the three children were strangled.

After the tour, the jury will return to the courtroom where testimony will resume. Jurors are expected to hear from staff at South Shore Hospital where Clancy was admitted after her suicide attempt.

CVS in Kingston: The jury will visit the CVS that Patrick Clancy stopped at to purchase a children’s laxative on the night his children were killed.

ThreeV Restaurant in Plymouth: The next stop will be the restaurant that Patrick visited to pick up the takeout food Lindsay ordered.

The former Clancy home in Duxbury: The final stop will be the former Clancy home where Lindsay strangled her three children, then attempted to kill herself.

After a week long jury selection, 12 women and six men were seated to decide the fate of Lindsay Clancy.

They will not know until the case is sent for deliberation who is an alternate.

The judge seated 18 jurors including six alternates – a higher-than-normal number due to the length of the trial, its high-profile nature and the likely grueling testimony.

Court began at 9am EST at the Plymouth County Superior Court today.

Inside the courtroom, Clancy is sat in a beige short sleeve blouse today. The room is fairly empty with around 15 members of the media, one member of the public, Clancy’s two nurses and the woman who has been accompanying her parents each day.

Her parents Mike and Paula have not arrived yet.

Postpartum psychosis affects one to two of every 1,000 births in the US, or 0.1 to 0.2 percent. Unlike postpartum depression, which comes on gradually and can last for years, postpartum psychosis is a sudden psychiatric emergency.

In postpartum psychosis, mothers lose touch with reality, suffering hallucinations, mania, paranoia and rapid mood swings. In many cases, like Clancy’s, hallucinations and delusions can tell mothers to hurt themselves or their babies.

‘It carries the most risk of the mother harming the baby due to having psychotic experiences,’ says Dr Rod Hoevert, clinical and forensic psychologist and assistant professor at Maryville University in St Louis.

There isn’t one single trigger of postpartum psychosis. It can be brought on by a combination of severe sleep deprivation, drastic hormone fluctuations and a history of mental health conditions, especially bipolar disorder.

Rachel H Tribble, a licensed clinical social worker in Florida who works with postpartum parents, told the Daily Mail: ‘Any woman with a history of depression, anxiety or other mental health condition could be at higher risk.’

Officer Stephen Hall testified in court yesterday that he responded to the Clancy house on the night of the murders.

He said he arrived at the house and saw Lindsay Clancy on the ground. Her head was towards the house, and she had cuts to her wrists and neck, but they were not actively bleeding.

‘She would wake up and move around and then kind of just go still again,’ Hall said.

The officer said Patrick Clancy went into the house and that dispatch told him the father ‘couldn’t wake them up.’

Hall said he heard a loud scream from inside the house, then he entered the building and went downstairs.

Patrick was in the basement and said the children weren’t waking up, according to Hall.

Hall said he went in and saw a child with feet toward the door, on his back, and the child was shirtless, wearing a diaper or some form of underwear. The officer said he later learned the child was Dawson.

The officer became emotional as he was shown photos from the crime scene and described finding the children.

The primal, unearthly scream reverberated all around the packed courtroom.

It was a tortured, guttural wail unlike any sound I have ever heard before.

Over several excruciating seconds, Patrick Clancy continued to scream inaudibly. The only words discernible were cries of ‘Oh my god!’

Then came the four horrifying words that laid bare the unspeakable scene that the father-of-three had just walked into.

‘She killed the kids!’
