Idaho shooting updates: At least 3 dead and 2 injured in mass shooting at Idaho In-N-Out with casualties expected ‘to increase’
At least three people were killed and two others were injured in a mass shooting at an In-N-Out in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Saturday, according to police and local officials.
The suspected shooter, whose identity has not been revealed, is dead, Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said during a press conference.
The number of victims is expected to increase, Joshua Palmer, a public information coordinator for the city, told The Independent. “We want to emphasize that that number may change,” Palmer said. “That was just the first number we got.”
An “active shooter incident” was first reported at 2:29 p.m. Soon afterward, police urged people to avoid the area, noting that roads in the area would be closed, as officers responded.
Shelter in place orders have since been lifted, Palmer said.
Twin Falls, a city with a population of some 56,000 people, is located about 130 miles southeast of Boise.
Police reassure community that threat is neutralized
“I can also reassure the community right now: we believe the threat to the community is over,” Hicks said, noting that the suspected shooter is dead.
He said that police are currently “trying to ascertain [the shooter’s] identity and the motivations behind that,” adding, “We’ll be able to figure that out in the coming days.”

Investigation is underway, police say
Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said during a press conference on Saturday evening that an investigation into the shooting is underway.
“We have literally hundreds of people that were in some way, shape or form in the area of this restaurant at the time that are being interviewed right now,” Hicks said. “The resources for all of our agencies are completely on board.”
“We are encouraging the public, if you have any information about this incident…to let us know,” he added.

Number of victims expected to increase

“Praying for everyone in Twin Falls as first responders continue searching for the suspect near In-N-Out,” Idaho Attorney General Raúl R. Labrador wrote on X shortly after the shooting was reported.
