Urgent recall of popular $7 chilli oil sold at Woolworths amid reaction fears

A popular $7 pantry staple has been urgently recalled from Woolworths shelves amid fears it could cause a serious reaction in people with peanut allergies.
Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) issued an alert confirming that Mr Chen’s Szechuan Chilli Oil has been pulled from stores nationally due to the presence of an undeclared allergen (peanuts).
The product label has been found not to declare peanut as an allergen.
Jars with the following best-before dates are affected: 04/12/2026, 07/04/2027 and 11/12/2027.
Consumers with a peanut allergy or intolerance are advised not to eat the condiment as they may have a reaction.
Shoppers should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.
The product has been available for sale at all Woolworths stores.
