Lindsay Clancy supporter brings son’s cremated remains to court on last day of trial: Live updates

A Lindsay Clancy supporter brought her son’s ashes to court after he took his own life following mental health struggles in 2024.
Speaking with the Daily Mail on Thursday morning, Danielle Buckley, 53, said her son Evan was diagnosed with oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), a mental health condition marked by a long-standing pattern of angry moods and resistance towards authoritative figures.
He was put on medication at 22 years old, much like Buckley, who had her own share of mental health struggles and was handed ‘five, six’ prescriptions for depression and anxiety. ‘I mean, I was on so many medications that I couldn’t even keep track of them all,’ she said.
Buckley said that she ‘identified’ with Clancy’s struggles after she and her son had been moved around the healthcare system before his untimely passing. ‘I just want her to not be guilty,’ she said.
The Clancy jury will begin to deliberate this morning after hearing closing arguments from the prosecution and the defense following a grueling five week trial.
Prosecutors are seeking to convict Clancy on first-degree murder charges. However, Judge William R Sullivan allowed manslaughter to be added to the jury instructions alongside second-degree murder yesterday.
Clancy, 36, strangled her children Cora, five, Dawson, three, and Callan, eight months, to death at her home Duxbury, Massachusetts in January 2023.
Clancy has admitted to killing her children but pleaded not guilty to murder by reason of insanity, citing postpartum psychosis, and is seeking to be committed to a state mental health facility rather than face a prison sentence.
