Man calls off $200K wedding because of fiancée’s reaction to Lindsay Clancy trial
A man has claimed that he called off his $200,000 wedding because of the way that his now ex-fiancée reacted to Lindsay Clancy’s trial.
TikTok creator David Mãrumbâõ sparked a heated debate after he alleged in a recent video that he broke things off with his former fiancée because of her opinion on the sensational case.
‘I just canceled my wedding – I was going to get married next month,’ he began in the now-viral clip, which has reached over 4.6 million views.
Mãrumbâõ explained that he had asked his wife-to-be for her thoughts on the case, to which she said that she believed that Clancy was ‘innocent.’
‘She told me that she’s innocent [and that] I would never understand what a woman goes through,’ he claimed.
‘And I said, “What about [her] kids?”‘ he went on.
He alleged that his now-ex’s response was: ‘Who cares?’ which led to him deciding to end their relationship.
‘You know what, $200,000 done, but I can’t believe I was going to get married to a monster,’ he concluded.

Clancy, 36, from Duxbury, Massachusetts, was on trial for the 2023 murders of her three children, Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan.
Clancy has admitted to killing her children but pleaded not guilty to murder by reason of insanity, citing postpartum psychosis; she is also suing her former healthcare providers for medical malpractice and negligence.
The prosecution argued that the killings were intentional and well planned, not the work of someone who had lost control.
But jurors were unable to reach a verdict after nearly 40 hours of deliberation, with the trial ending in a mistrial on Friday, September 4.
The case garnered both national and international media attention over the past six-and-a-half weeks, especially on social media platforms.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Mãrumbâõ for comment.
While there is some speculation about whether or not Mãrumbâõ was telling a true story – there is no sign that he was in a relationship on his social media pages – his video has divided viewers.
In the comments section of his post, some agreed that he was right to call off the wedding and others claimed they wouldn’t break up with someone over that.

‘As a woman myself, you did yourself a favor. These women are huge red flags,’ one person wrote.
‘Good for you. You saved yourself a lot of stress,’ someone else typed.
A different user wrote: ‘I’m a woman, you did the right thing.’
Others, however, thought his reaction was over-the-top.
‘Sounds like she is the one who dodged the bullet,’ someone wrote.
Another agreed: ‘Your ex is a smart woman.’
‘I think you did her a huge favor by cancelling the wedding,’ a TikTok user typed.
A key date in determining Clancy’s retrial prospects is September 29, when the judge is set to hold a status hearing on the next steps in the case, including whether and how a new trial could proceed.
In Massachusetts, the burden of proof lies with the prosecution when a defendant makes an insanity defense, meaning they have to prove that a defendant was sane or at least capable of knowing right from wrong at the time of the crime.
