Joe Jonas absent from Australian fan meet-and-greet after Melbourne flight is delayed ahead of Jonas Brothers NFL half-time show
The NFL half-time show held at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Friday was almost completely derailed after one Jonas Brother missed his flight to Australia.
The game between San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams was the first-ever regular-season NFL match played in Australia.
However, singer Joe Jonas, one third of the Jonas Brothers, revealed on Thursday he almost didn’t make it to the historic game.
During a fan event at the MCG, brothers Nick and Kevin Jonas met with their followers, but Joe, 37, was notably absent.
A video greeting from Joe was shown at the meet-and-greet, with the singer explaining his flight into Melbourne had been delayed.
‘I am in Dubai. I was delayed in London,’ he explained.

‘I think there was some sort of radar issue so every single flight was delayed and cancelled. So I am staying here until 2:45am.’
His brothers Nick, 33, and Kevin, 38, went on to say Joe ‘wanted to be here’ with his fans, but would instead be arriving on Friday morning in time for the NFL show.
It comes after American football fans were noticeably displeased to see the ageing boy band during the Rams-49ers matchup.
‘This Jonas Brothers performance is why we don’t hit quarterbacks anymore,’ podcaster and former Tennessee Titans player Will Compton wrote on X, where he humorously blamed the band for the NFL’s new-age rules at protecting quarterbacks.
Others were more direct.
‘I’m sorry but we don’t need a Jonas Brothers halftime concert in week 1,’ one fan wrote in an X post.

‘This is making a mockery of the game,’ another added. ‘It’s pointless. Treat this like a real regular season game.’
Action Network HQ’s Sean Koerner did not pull any punches: ‘Sending the Jonas Brothers to do the halftime in Australia is a war crime.’
In total the band did five songs, including hits Burnin’ Up, Sucker and Listen When Sad, according to a Jonas Brothers fan account on X.
That account also shared photos of Jonas Brothers NFL merchandise that included a $65 t-shirt and a $135 hoodie, although it’s unclear if those prices were in US dollars or Australian.
Not everyone hated the show. Some NFL fans were just perplexed to see the Jonas Brothers during half-time of a game at the MCG.
‘My wife asked [me] to turn up the halftime show because the Jonas Brothers are singing,’ a fan wrote on X. ‘I asked if they were performing because they are from Australia.’
He then added: ‘I was rudely informed they are from New Jersey.’
Some football fans were even excited to see Nick, Joe and Kevin.
‘Jonas Brothers half time show,’ Kingdom of Queens podcaster Lexi Osborne wrote on X. ‘I am in HEAVEN.’
