Al-Azhar reveals the secrets of the miracle in the Qur’an’s talk about clouds during a new scientific forum
Today, Sunday, Al-Azhar Mosque held the weekly Forum on Interpretation and Faces of Quranic Miracles under the title Manifestations of Miracles in the Qur’an’s Hadith on Clouds, in the presence of Dr. Abdel Fattah Al-Awari, former Dean of the Faculty of Fundamentals of Religion, and Dr. Mustafa Ibrahim, Professor at the Faculty of Science at Al-Azhar University, and the media meeting was moderated by Abu Bakr Abdel Muti.
At the beginning of the forum, Dr. Abdel Fattah Al-Awari said that God’s power is manifested in the delicate cosmic system, especially the water cycle, which begins with the wind sending fertilisers, which transport vapors and contribute to their condensation until clouds are formed.
He explained that the clouds in reality represent signs of a new life, citing verses in the Qur’an that link the falling of rain to the revival of the earth after its death. He added that the scenes of lightning and thunder that precede the rain fall combine fear and hope, while the heavy clouds carry signs of divine mercy.
Al-Awari pointed out that the process of forming clouds and driving them through the movement of the wind reveals a remarkable aspect of the miracle, as the water that descends, fresh and clear, was originally salty before it evaporated, which highlights the ability of God Almighty to transform it into a good blessing for humans, animals, and the earth.
And from For his part, Dr. Mustafa Ibrahim discussed the scientific accuracy in the process of rain formation, explaining that the movement of clouds takes place according to a precise system that begins with the rise of water vapor, and then the winds discharge it through multiple eastern, western and polar directions, which leads to the clouds spreading in the layers of the atmosphere. He cited Qur’anic verses that described this conjugation with scientific accuracy that is consistent with what modern science has revealed about the movement of vertical and horizontal winds.
Ibrahim explained that the Holy Qur’an did not use the word “rain” To denote the water descending from the sky. Rather, he used words that carry connotations of goodness, such as water and rain, while the word rain in the Qur’an is designated to describe torment, which embodies the graphic miracle in distinguishing the connotations of mercy from the connotations of punishment.
It is noteworthy that the Forum for Interpretation and Faces of Qur’anic Miracles is held weekly in the Al-Azhar Mosque under the patronage of His Eminence the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, and under the supervision of Dr. Muhammad Al-Duwaini, Undersecretary of Al-Azhar, It aims to highlight the scientific and declarative aspects of the verses of the Holy Qur’an, by hosting an elite group of scholars and specialists.
