Van Meter, who has written for Vogue and New York magazine, has been working on the book since 2019 – predating her divorce from Kanye West. He even documents his stay at her mansion in the Hidden Hills, just outside of Los Angeles city centre.
Kim – who was once only known as Paris Hilton’s best friend and became a global star with Keeping Up With the Kardashians in 2007 – allowed Van Meter into her life, giving him a rare insight into what it’s really like to be the most followed woman in the world.
Now one of Anna Wintour’s favorite writers, Van Meter made his name after writing the infamous 1990 Vogue interview with Linda Evangelista. The piece featured Evangelista’s legendary quote that she and Christy Turlington ‘don’t wake up for less than $10,000 a day’.
Over the next three days, the Daily Mail will feature the best revelations from Citizen Kim, including the harrowing new details about how she was kidnapped in Paris by robbers who stole £7.5million of jewellery, including a diamond engagement ring, during the city’s fashion week in 2016.
There are also brand new revelations about the extravagant lengths West went to woo Kim in the early days of their relationship, as well as the truth about why she was so shocked when she fell pregnant with her eldest child North.
And the book delivers a bombshell detailing the moment she discovered Caitlyn Jenner’s deepest secret, as well as what she really thinks about her three disastrous marriages – all based on exclusive testimonies from dozens of Kim’s closest friends, family members and associates.
