Astonishing rumor that Fox News guest was wearing rubber head mask sweeps internet – now the truth has emerged

A Fox News guest set the internet alight this week after a strange dark mass on his neck set off a rumor that he was wearing an elaborate rubber head mask.
Vice Admiral Robert Harward, 69, caught the eye of viewers on the conservative news network on Tuesday, with others questioning whether the mark might have been the result of a medical procedure.
In reality, it was almost certainly a technical glitch, a person close to Harward said.
The source has seen him several times since the Tuesday interview.
‘He is in excellent shape and is healthy, and is not wearing a mask in this clip or ever,’ the source told the Mail Friday, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Archive photos taken of the retired US Navy SEAL show his appearance has not changed dramatically over the last few decades, further debunking the mask rumor.
Left-wing political commentator Edward Krassenstein originally aired the theory on Friday and it gained traction within a matter of hours. He and others cast doubt on it being a media-related error.
The Daily Mail approached Fox News for comment.

Still, figures like Tim Pool and Meghan McCain latched on to the theory within minutes.
‘This is the weirdest s**t I’ve ever seen,’ Pool wrote.
‘That motherf**ker is NOT real!’ added McCain, the daughter of late naval officer and senator John McCain.
A more skeptical Cuomo wrote: ‘What a silly thing to focus on (and drive suspicion).
‘Deal with reality, there are plenty of legitimate concerns.’
Our source said, ‘I can’t speak for Fox and how they might edit video with filters or other lighting factors, but Bob is going to make several TV appearances in the next few days so I think this crazy mask rumor is going to be debunked.’
Talks during Harward’s America’s Newsroom appearance on Tuesday largely revolved largely around politics.
He said of Trump: ‘He controls the narrative [amid the Iran war]. He controls the strike capabilities, and he knows that the policy he set with the blockade has had short-term and long-term effects on the regime and the people of Iran.’
The former admiral theorized the president’s strategy in recent sanctions and an ongoing US blockade on the Strait of Hormuz was likely to force Iran into a surrender rather than some form of truce.

‘The president has made it very clear you will not have a nuclear weapon,’ Harward said.
‘The president knows he is in the position to demand.’
‘So I think in that sense he controls the narrative of when he would strike,’ the executive vice president for international business and strategy for San Diego-based Shield AI continued.
He warned against striking Iran amid the ongoing ongoing Hajj pilgrimage, which ends on Friday, May 29, and is held alongside Eid al-Adha, which ends on May 30.
‘Do you want strike during Hajj, which is a very sacred Muslim month and activity? Followed by Eid al-Adha? Both of those things are the time equation.’
