Aubrey Plaza has confirmed she’s pregnant, days after reports emerged that she was expecting her first child with her boyfriend and Girls star Christopher Abbott.
Plaza addressed the news in a recent episode of the Smartless podcast, telling hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes that “there’s a baby inside of me”.
“I’ve always wanted to see what [parenthood] is all about, you know? It just seems so interesting, that whole thing,” Plaza revealed.
The Parks and Recreation star said she’d gone for a pregnancy checkup before recording the podcast, on the same day her dog also “went to the doctor’s” for an ultrasound.
“Today was a big day. I went to the doctor’s today, and my dog went to the doctor’s. Both of us. My dog is getting a scan right now. I got a scan earlier. I’m not kidding,” Plaza said.
“She had to get an ultrasound on her stomach, and then I got an ultrasound on my stomach, and there is a baby in there.”
The reveal comes almost a week after sources claimed the pregnancy came “as a beautiful surprise” for Plaza and Abbott, who co-starred in the 2020 movie Black Bear and reportedly started dating last year.
“They feel very blessed,” the source said of the couple, adding that the pregnancy came “after an emotional year” for Plaza following the death of her husband, Jeff Baena in January 2025.

Plaza and Baena got married in 2021, but had reportedly separated four months before his death. The actress opened up about the tragedy on Amy Poehler’s podcast Good Hang, saying the grief felt like “a giant ocean of just awfulness”.
Plaza and Abbott’s baby is expected to arrive later this year.
