Billy Bush breaks his silence on alleged tense encounter with author Amy Griffin during star-studded wedding in Hawaii

Billy Bush has broken his silence on the tense encounter he said he had with author Amy Griffin during a star-studded wedding in Hawaii.
The 55-year-old made the claims during a recent episode of his Hot Mics with Billy Bush podcast.
He detailed his recollection of the clash at the nuptials of celebrity jewelry designer Jennifer Meyers and billionaire heir Geoffrey Ogunlesi on October 10.
Prior to the ceremony, Griffin had been embroiled in legal drama over her new memoir, titled The Tell, which detailed childhood sexual abuse memories.
Following its release in 2025, a former middle school classmate filed a lawsuit in California alleging that Griffin had appropriated details of her own trauma.
Griffin denied the claims and in return filed a federal defamation suit in Nevada.
Bush has been extensively covering the legal controversy – which he alluded to may have been the cause of the tension at the wedding being officiated by Meyers’s ex-husband Tobey Maguire.
Telling the encounter from his point of view, radio host Bush began: ‘From the moment I arrived in Lanai, I could feel her glare all over me.

‘And she was telling anyone who would listen not to talk to me.’
Bush continued: ‘I see [Amy] because she is wearing a bright red dress.
‘And then I hear her and Demi Moore talking… this whole scene is unfolding. Then finally she comes at me.’
He claimed that as Griffin made her way through to Bush she stumbled, adding: ‘Her purse spills open entirely. Everything all over the place.
‘Then she pulls up in my face and she’s shaking and she says “you don’t know me.”‘
Bush said that he responded by saying that he did know who she was before she repeated her previous statement.
‘I’m like, “okay, I can see you are upset. I don’t think this is the time nor the place to have this discussion. I’d love to talk to you on the record – or off, either way – at another time but not now.”‘
Bush, who recently landed a new role 10 years on as a contributor at Fox News after his very high-profile firing from NBC, claimed he was ‘calm and cool the whole time.’

Should personal disputes ever be aired during someone else’s wedding celebrations?
He alleged that later in the night Griffin approached his girlfriend Allie before asking her: ‘How could you be with someone who’s abusing me?
‘He’s doing this for his entertainment.’
Bush continued by slamming her as ‘narcissistic’ and stating: ‘The nerve. This is another woman’s wedding. Imagine making it all about you.’
The Daily Mail has contacted Griffin’s representatives for comment.
