The decomposed body found in a car registered to US singer D4vd — whose real name is David Anthony Burke — has been officially identified as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas.

On Monday, September 8, police discovered a badly decomposed body in the front trunk of a Tesla located at a Los Angeles impound following reports of a “foul odour” from the staff.
The body is that of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, who was identified through forensics, NBC Los Angeles reports.
In a statement to NBC News, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has confirmed that it does not have “any suspect information at this time” as it has yet to receive “a crime classification from the coroner as to the mode or manner of death”.
Following news of the identification, a missing persons poster of Celeste has begun to circulate on social media. According to the poster, which was shared by TMZ, Celeste was just 13 when she was last seen in 2024.

In response, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, which was a point of contact on the missing person’s poster, told NBC News that it has confirmed with “the Los Angeles Police Department that Celeste Rivas Hernandez has been identified as the juvenile who was reported missing from Lake Elsinore”.
At the time of the discovery, authorities said identification could be delayed as the body was “not intact”.
Per the medical examiner’s office, Celeste was found wearing a tube top, black leggings, a yellow metal chain and bracelets. She was also described as having wavy black hair and weighing about 32.2kgs.
According to TMZ, Celeste’s mother alleged that her daughter and D4vd, 20, were dating and that the police’s description of the body included a tattoo on her finger that said “Shhh…”.
Per the publication, the mother claimed that Celeste and D4vd shared the same tattoo.
A representative for D4vd has said the singer “has been informed about what’s happened” and is cooperating with authorities in their investigation.
“D4vd has been informed about what’s happened. And, although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities,” a spokesperson said, per NBC News.
The singer — who boasts 3.6 million followers on TikTok and 2 million on Instagram — was in Minneapolis on his North American leg of his Withered World Tour when the discovery was made.
He is also scheduled to perform Down Under at Spilt Milk Festival this December.
