Building collapses in Sydney, multiple people injured

A building has collapsed in Sydney’s inner-city suburb of Ultimo, injuring multiple people and sparking a major emergency response.

Part of a wall collapsed near a Shell service station on Wattle Street shortly before 11am on Monday, trapping several workers beneath the rubble.

NSW Ambulance told Daily Mail one man was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the other to St Vincent’s Hospital, while five other people were assessed at the scene.

A bystander said he had been parked beneath the wall just minutes before it collapsed.

‘I heard a lot of not normal noise, so I moved my scooter and two minutes later, the wall fell,’ he said.

‘I was shocked and surprised.

‘I feel lucky, but I hope the people who are injured will be safe.’
