A car enthusiast has revealed the top five most ‘overrated’ SUVs of 2025.
Tomislav Mikula regularly posts motoring insights and maintenance advice for his 377,000 followers on TikTok.
But most recently, he took to the platform to share the list of vehicles that he deems to be ‘not good,’ adding: ‘Arguably most aren’t that reliable.’
Before launching into his full evaluation, Tomislav he began with an ‘honorable mention’ of the Toyota RAV4 which narrowly escaped the list.
The expert, who founded car buying platform Delivrd, began: ‘Before you freak out, hear me out for a second because I think the RAV4 is the definition of overrated.
‘It is still one of the best SUVs in its class but it only does one thing really well. It is an important thing – which is reliability – but everything else is just middle of the pack.
‘It’s looks are mid. When it comes down to the driving experience, it’s mid. When it comes down to the safety, it’s good, but not the best.
‘And when it comes down to the overall incentives on this car, they’re just fine.’
TikToker Tomislav Mikula shared the top five most overrated SUVs of 2025. He started the top five list with an ‘honorable mention,’ which was a Toyota RAV4
He continued: ‘The competition is starting to creep up on this car, slower and faster and faster, but when it comes down to it, the RAV4 is starting to get outdated.
‘With that being said, I still think it’s a great buy.
‘In 2026, it looks like a redesign year, so this car will be completely revamped.
‘But going into 2025, this is my honorable mention.’
5. Buick SUV lineup
Tomislav then officially launched into his most ‘overrated’ list – starting with the entire Buick SUV lineup.
‘I just think Buick has lost their identity. They don’t know who they are trying to serve,’ the expert said.
‘Buick used to be this luxury American brand but they have fallen off because they are trying to appeal to too many crowds.
‘Their price point, for example, is more competitive with an economy car than it is a luxury car.
‘And the car looks good in theory but when you actually sit in the vehicle, you realize how cheap of materials they used.
‘When you are trying to appeal to everybody, you start to lose value. When it comes down to it, a lot of people like the looks of these cars, but the second they sit in them, they realize how cheap they are.
‘I think Buicks should go all-in with luxury, or all-in with economy. If they do that, I think they’ll be more successful.’
4. Mazda CX-70
Tomislav said the Mazda CX-70 was next on his list because he ‘doesn’t think it serves a need.’
‘I think if they made this car just a little bit more different than the CX-90, it makes sense,’ he explained.
‘But if you just pop the third row down in the CX-90, you have a CX-70 at a very similar price point.
‘And why not have access to the third row if you need it? The CX-70 does not differentiate itself from the CX-90, which is its biggest problem.’
He added: ‘I think it’s a great SUV, but if I’m in this market, I’m buying a CX-90 even if I don’t need the third row – I’ll just throw that third row down.’

Tomislav said the Mazda CX-70 is on his list because he ‘doesn’t think it serves a need’
3. Jeep Wrangler
The car enthusiast went on to tackle the Jeep Wrangler, saying: ‘Let’s face the facts, it isn’t a good SUV.’
He continued: ‘Now I understand this vehicle has a cult following, and I understand the owners are single-handedly keeping the rubber ducky market afloat, but when it comes down to it, it’s still not a good vehicle.
‘It lacks practicality, it lacks safety and it lacks reliability – and those three things are extremely important to add to an SUV.

The car enthusiast included Jeep Wranglers on his list and started by saying: ‘Let’s face the facts, it isn’t a good SUV’
‘Now this vehicle, you understand is bad when the up and coming, exciting feature is that they made power windows and locks standard for the first time in 2025.
‘What? Welcome to the 20th century,’ he quipped.
Tomsilav continued: ‘This car used to have a really good target audience of teenagers that wanted to take the top off and hang out with their friends, but this car’s safety rating has become so bad that parents don’t want to put their kids in the car.
‘They would rather put them in something more reliable and safe and practical than put them into a death trap.’
2. Audi Q5

The car expert said the Audi Q5 is on his list because ‘simply, there is not a single thing that Audi does that is better than its competition, which is the Mercedes and the BMW’
The car expert said the Audi Q5 is on his list because ‘simply, there is not a single thing that Audi does that is better than its competition, which is the Mercedes and the BMW.
‘It’s not as sporty, it doesn’t look as good, it doesn’t have as good on technology, and when it comes down to it, it’s just not a better value.
‘The Audi Q5 has fallen on every single attribute. Now, some people are going to swear by the all wheel drive system and say it’s the best thing since sliced bread – but the problem is, if your own redeeming feature can be fixed with another car having good snow tires, your car is flawed.
‘Now this car is going to get redesigned and hopefully it’s better because some Audis are great in its lineup, but the Q5 is a car that I wouldn’t buy, but some people swear by it.’
1. Lexus GX550
Tomislav branded the Lexus GX550 as the ‘number one most overrated car of 2025,’ stating: ‘I’m sorry, just like everybody else, when this car was announced, I was blown away. I thought it was one of the best designed vehicles in the last 15 years.
‘I think this car looks gorgeous – from the outside.
‘The first time I actually went to go review this car and actually sit in it and drive in it, I sat in this car and was underwhelmed.’

Tomislav said he thought this car was gorgeous, but only from the outside. He said the ‘interior was an afterthought’
He continued: ‘It seemed like the interior was an afterthought, which some people might say, “Tomi, it’s Lexus, it’s an off-roader.” But, I’m sorry, when you’re spending $80,000 on a vehicle like this, this is something that they should have given more thought.
‘I’m sorry, but the Land Cruiser interior is just as nice – if not better – than the interior on this car, which is absolutely insane.
‘Now, I understand the outside of this car looks better, but I would honestly go with a Land Cruiser versus the GX550.
‘Combine this with their so-little inventory because so many people are preordering this car. It is not worth the mark-up, it is not worth the hype, it is not worth the wait.
‘In my opinion, a lot of people were backing out of their orders once they see these cars because they are underwhelmed with the interior.
‘I expect this car to fall off super hard. I really hope Lexus puts some extra effort into the interior over the next few years because if it doesn’t, I think this car will struggle.’
A few viewers agreed with Tomislav’s picks.
‘When I was younger, I wanted a Wrangler SO BAD. Then I got adult money and test drove one. Absolutely not,’ a person shared.
‘Couldn’t agree more with the RAV4. It’s so boring and uninteresting,’ someone wrote.
‘This video was crazy good. Nailed it on all of them,’ one person applauded.
‘This is very helpful information to know! Thank you,’ someone thanked.
Another said: ‘This is a perfect list.’
‘After driving the Lexus GX550, I completely agree. It sucks. The interior was lame, the engine had no pep, lost stopping distance, and drives heavy,’ a comment read, while another simply said, ‘The GX550 is junk!’
