Cop, 26, is arrested after detectives allegedly make a shocking discovery on his phone

A police officer from NSW has been suspended from duty – with pay – after he was charged with possessing child abuse and bestiality material.

Officers attached to the Professional Standards Command began an investigation into the 26-year-old constable in July following a referral from federal police.

Police executed a search warrant at a property in the state’s south on September 15 where they seized electronic devices, a gel blaster and ammunition.

The constable, who is attached to a Southern Region Command, was issued a court attendance notice on Wednesday following inquiries.

He has been charged with a range of offences including possession of child abuse data-use carriage service and possession of bestiality material.

He was also charged with unauthorised possession of a prohibited firearm, holder of Category A or B licence not have approved storage and intentionally publish protected information.

The constable’s employment status is currently under review, police said.

He is set to appear before Albury Local Court on Wednesday November 19.
