Democrat congressman doubles down on fire and fury for ‘corrupt’ Trump family and ‘architect of horror’ Stephen Miller

A Democratic congressman has blasted Trump’s family as ‘corrupt’ and vowed an uncompromising investigation into the president’s new chief of staff, Stephen Miller.

California Representative Robert Garcia, who was elected for a third term in the midterm blue wave last week, shared his scathing comments about the Trump administration on CNN Sunday morning.

Garcia is set to become the next chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. The congressman made his intention to investigate Trump clear on election night, when he tweeted in all caps: ‘LAWYER UP.’

On CNN, Garcia called Trump and his sons ‘the most corrupt family to ever be in the Oval Office and the White House. I mean, Donald Trump is the most corrupt person to ever be president of the United States.’

The congressman then explained his view, saying: ‘You have Don Jr getting hundreds of thousands of dollars from a Russian oligarch for his wedding. Sitting on boards that are getting contracts from the Pentagon.

‘You have Jared Kushner getting $2 billion from the Saudis after leaving the White House.’

Garcia confirmed that he plans to investigate the Trump family and said: ‘The grift that is happening on the American public, as the Trumps are billions of dollars richer, the American public can’t pay the gas and the groceries.’

The congressman also pointed his critiques at Stephen Miller, whom Trump recently announced will be replacing Susie Wiles as chief of staff.

‘Stephen Miller is the architect of this horrific, unjust policy happening across the country,’ Garcia said. ‘Stephen Miller called Alex Pretti, as we know, an assassin.’

Pretti was an American citizen who immigration agents shot ten times in the back while pinning him on the ground during ICE protests in Minneapolis.

Miller called Pretti a ‘would-be assassin’ and ‘domestic terrorist’ who ‘tried to murder federal law enforcement.’ Following immense backlash and video evidence that contradicted his claims, Miller walked back the comments but did not apologize.

Garcia accused Miller of ‘creating immigration policy that separates families. That is causing people harm. That is creating a detention process where a few large companies are profiting [from] the unconstitutional detention of people.’

‘That has to be investigated,’ the congressman said. ‘And we know that Stephen Miller has been an architect of that.’

‘What’s happening there, what’s happening in Iran. Stephen Miller is at the center of the major policy decisions that are happening in the administration, and so it does deserve oversight and investigation,’ Garcia added.

The congressman has been highly active on social media since election night, doubling down on his assertion that a Democratic oversight committee under his watch will investigate the Trump administration, the president’s family and their allies.

Garcia has repeatedly pledged to ‘take on’ the Trump family, large corporations and heavy-handed immigration enforcement. He has also championed investigating a ‘White House coverup’ of the Epstein files.

Garcia’s bold comments since election night have drawn reaction from prominent conservative voices and members of the Trump administration, including former White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and Attorney General Todd Blanche.

After Garcia released a statement through the oversight committee that said, ‘Stephen Miller should lawyer up,’ Blanche said on X: ‘The Chief of Staff already has a lawyer. The Attorney General of the United States and the Department of Justice.’

Garcia replied: ‘While we have your attention, when are you coming in to testify under oath about covering up the Epstein files? Or are you too scared to come in?’

During an interview with Lara Trump on Fox News Saturday night, Leavitt said: ‘You had Rep Garcia’s first statement after election night was “Lawyer up.”

‘This is a party whose base is hellbent on political retribution, obstructionism, impeachment – they don’t want to do what’s best for the voters who elected them.’

Garcia has also struck a lighter tone at times. On his personal X account, he posted a picture of the clown from the horror movie ‘It’ peeking out of a sewer along with the caption: ‘When they go low this is me.’

He explained the post on CNN and said: ‘This is a joke. I mean, basically what I’m saying is when Republicans go low, what we’re not gonna do anymore is just take the high road and turn the other cheek. We’re gonna get down and be in that fight.’
