We’ve answered a very important question that, while few have asked, true fans of House of the Dragon will want to know: which House of the Dragon character matches your zodiac sign?
It’s a timely question, given season three is now underway. By now, it’s fair to say we’ve come to know these characters – particularly those who have been with us since day one – pretty well. Well enough to think, “Gosh, Aemond is such a Scorpio.” We hate him, but we just can’t get enough of him.
So, we’ve consulted the stars and, after much agonising, curated our definitive ranking of House of the Dragon characters and the zodiac signs we believe suit them best. Read on to see if you agree – or disagree – we don’t mind. These pairings had us kicking our feet and twirling our hair, and we hope they do the same for you.
Daemon Targaryen: Aries
The only uncle we will ever ship with their niece… Bold, impulsive and hard to ignore, Daemon is the definition of a fiery Aries (quite literally). He leads with instinct, thrives on adrenaline and would rather ask for forgiveness than permission. He’s a bit of a naughty one, but one that can never actually do too much harm.
Corlys Velaryon: Taurus
The sea snake – Corlys is patient, determined and deeply invested in building a lasting legacy. So much so, he tried to ignore his two biological sons. Like a Taurus, he values loyalty, security and the rewards that come from persistence and hard work.
Aegon II Targaryen: Gemini
Of course Aegon II is a Gemini. He’s unpredictable, charismatic (at least he likes to think he is) and full of contradictions, making him a natural Gemini. His duality means you never quite know which version of him is going to show up on screen.
Helaena Targaryen: Cancer
Our favourite Hightower sibling. Helaena is gentle, intuitive – so much so she’s actually prophetic – and emotionally attuned. She embodies Cancer’s deeply sensitive nature, and experiences the world through feeling rather than force, making her one of the series’ most compassionate characters.
Rhaenyra Targaryen: Leo
Our rightful Queen was born to lead and command attention wherever she goes – for better or for worse. She’s fiercely proud and unwavering in her belief that she deserves the throne, radiating classic Leo confidence and charisma.
Otto Hightower: Virgo
While he may not be our favourite (and is a bit of a traitor), Otto is methodical, analytical and always several steps ahead. The ultimate strategist, you could say. His attention to detail and preference for careful planning perfectly capture Virgo energy. And sadly, also lead to his death…
Alicent Hightower: Libra
Alicent constantly tries to balance duty, family and political expectations ever since was a girl, even when the odds are stacked against her. Like a Libra, she’s diplomatic and relationship-oriented, though conflict often forces her to choose a side.
Aemond Targaryen: Scorpio
The irresistible yet horrifying Aemond is undeniably intense, ambitious and impossible to intimidate. In other words, he truly channels Scorpio’s magnetic power. He never forgets a slight and always transforms pain into strength and determination. If there was one character more like their sign then any, it is this one. A true grudge-holder, too.
Laenor Velaryon: Saggitarius
While he may have died a few seasons ago now, Laenor valued freedom, adventure and living authentically above all else. His optimistic spirit and desire to carve his own path make him a quintessential Sagittarius.
Jacaerys Velaryon: Capricorn
Jace embodies Capricorn’s ambition, sense of duty and determination to live up to immense expectations from his family. Rather than chasing power for its own sake, he is motivated by responsibility, working tirelessly to prove himself as a worthy heir despite the doubts surrounding his legitimacy.
Mysaria: Aquarius
A smaller character, but her independence and unconventional ways stands out. Mysaria refuses to play by the rules of the nobility. She sees the bigger picture and uses her intelligence to challenge established power structures, making her a true Aquarius.
Viserys I Targaryen: Pisces
Rest in peace our King. Viserys is an idealist who believes people can rise above conflict, even when reality proves otherwise. His compassionate heart, romantic outlook and tendency to see the best in others align closely with Pisces. Nothing has been as peaceful as it was when he was around.
