Fans slam Elle Duncan’s ‘ridiculous’ outfit for NFL hosting debut as she fronts Netflix coverage of 49ers-Rams in Australia
Netflix’s lead sports host Elle Duncan turned heads with her bold outfit for her NFL debut as she fronted the coverage of the 49ers-Rams game in Australia on Thursday night.
Duncan quit ESPN to join the streaming giants at the end of last year as its main sports presenter, and has since hosted baseball, boxing and even Alex Honnold’s free-solo climb of Taipei 101.
Thursday night in Melbourne marked her first NFL assignment, though, and she went big with her outfit choice – donning a bizarre pair of black gloves as she welcomed viewers to the broadcast.
Unsurprisingly, fans quickly jumped on social media to share their thoughts on the fashion statement, with one writing: ‘Why in the world is Elle Duncan wearing gloves for NFL Netflix game She looks absolutely ridiculous.’
Another added: ‘Wasting time trying to figure out why Elle Duncan is wearing gloves with a sleeveless blouse/dress at the Netflix broadcast of the NFL in Australia.’
A third, meanwhile, commented: ‘Why is Elle Duncan wearing OJ Simpson gloves?’

It wasn’t all bad for Duncan, though, with others happy to see her on their TV screens for the big Week 1 clash Down Under.
‘Elle Duncan on Netflix is one of the great current sports presenters,’ one said.
Duncan surprised many when she ended her time at ESPN after almost a decade, opting to jump ship for a big-money deal at Netflix in December.
She began her new role with a tense broadcast of American free climber Honnold scaling the 101-story Taiwan tower without ropes.
She has since fronted MLB’s Home Run Derby and the 2026 Field of Dreams Game, as well as multiple boxing events.
It is NFL that she was perhaps most excited for, and she finally got her chance on Thursday night.
Earlier in the week, she posted on X: ‘From the moment I started covering sports, it’s been a dream to be a part of the NFL…that dream is about to become a reality.’
