Fears as police launch search for ex-Premier League star who has been missing in Hungary for over a week
Police in Hungary have launched a search for former Premier League star Akos Buzsaky, who has been missing for more than a week.
The 44-year-old, who played for QPR in the English top flight, has been missing from Budapest since August 18.
The midfielder earned 20 caps for Hungary as a midfielder and also played for Plymouth, Portsmouth and Barnsley before retiring in 2025. He made 18 Premier League appearances, contributing two goals and two assists.
The police have not said why they are looking for Buzsaky and his father, Akos Buzsaky Sr told Hungarian outlet Blikk: ‘I didn’t know that the police were also looking for my son.

‘He basically spends a lot of time in Greece, where he works as a construction contractor. He spent almost the entire last year there.
‘Since we don’t live under the same roof, it’s not surprising that we only speak less often. The last time I spoke to him was last week, when he was at home.’
QPR said: ‘The club are concerned to learn that R’s favourite Akos Buzsaky has been reported missing.
‘We’re all praying he’s found safe and well.’
