Female firefighter in court over claims she handcuffed her boyfriend and refused to free him

A woman in Ohio is facing multiple charges, including abduction, after she handcuffed her boyfriend before stealing his car and phone and brazenly breaking into his house.
Firefighter Kenasia Guilford, 33, appeared in Toledo court Monday after she allegedly handcuffed her boyfriend, a fellow firefighter and a captain within the department, to a staircase, which he had to gnaw off to set himself free, WTVG reported.
‘This series of incidents stems from a paramour situation, where some information was learned by the defendant that would make anyone have substantial concern and was traumatic,’ Guilford’s attorney, Richard Mitchell, said in court, according to the outlet.
The alleged victim’s friend was the one who called 911 on the woman after he showed up at his house at 4am, still in handcuffs.
The handcuffing started off as consensual, Toledo Criminal Court records show.
‘The defendant did handcuff the victim to the staircase for the purpose of consensual exploit,’ was the descriptor provided in the original complaint.
Guilford then refused to unlock the handcuffs, which caused the victim to feel ‘fear for his personal safety,’ according to the document.
The woman then proceeded to steal her boyfriend’s housekey from his bag, before entering his home. She was later found hiding in an upstairs bedroom by Toledo Police, court records show.
Firefighter Kenasia Guilford, 33, handcuffed her boyfriend in a consensual encounter only to leave him trapped. She is also accused of stealing his car and breaking into his house
The man gnawed himself free from the staircase he was handcuffed to, but had to wait until police arrived to get the handcuffs fully cut off
The man freed himself by gnawing on the handcuffs just enough to detach himself from the staircase but kept them around his hands as he walked down the street, allegedly to get help from his friend who called 911, according to the outlet.
‘He told me to hover around so he could go and get his keys, and I can take him to go get his truck. But as I was waiting, I see her walking down the street in the pitch dark, running toward his house,’ he told the outlet.
‘I was on the phone with my wife, and she was like, you might need to call 911, but I don’t even know what to say,’ the captain’s friend said to the 911 dispatcher.
It is unclear how the friend was able to contact the victim after Guilford had allegedly taken his phone.
‘He had a bookbag on him, but she had the phone. I think that’s why he was — why she handcuffed him — to get to his phone or something like that. And that’s why he didn’t have his phone on him,’ the friend said in response to questioning from the dispatcher.
Guilford’s bail was set at $10,000, a no-contact order was filed, and an ankle monitor has been placed on her while the case is pending.
She is scheduled to appear in court again on October 15 in Toledo.
